THE ARTS

CULTIVATING THE CULTURE OF CREATIVITY

A wide range of performing and creative arts activities are available to foster a creative mindset in our learners

The Performing Arts program offers learners a unique opportunity to participate in an engaging and personalized learning journey full of fun and interactive experiences, while the Creative Arts is a space that cultivates creativity.

PERFORMING ARTS

The Performing Arts program offers learners a unique opportunity to participate in an engaging and personalized learning journey filled with fun and interactive experiences.

The program is taught through the lens of design thinking to support each child's development and growth as an artist.

Through the performing arts, learners gain transferable skills that will prepare them for the future and for life beyond the walls. Learners are encouraged to try a variety of experiences to find something that is just right for them. Once they discover something that suits them, they are supported by our learning designers to acquire new skills that enable them to reach new creative heights in their chosen field.

Our Media Arts Center has a fantastic range of spaces filled with the latest music, dance and drama resources, enabling learners to create effective content. These include dance studios, practice rooms, ‘home-recording’ style studios, a large full scale recording studio, a 21st-century ‘jam room’, and the blackbox studio, which have all been designed to inspire creativity.

CREATIVE ARTS

Creative Arts at VERSO is a space for hands-on learning and building things. Creating, exploring new materials, using tools, making mistakes, and sharing discoveries is what connects us together, what keeps us flexible, and what builds our confidence. Sessions and workshops focus on art concepts and techniques, engineering, design and one-on-one coaching for personal projects.

Projects at the makerspace studio are designed to develop our learners’ communication and graphic design skills. Communication design is another foundational skill that VERSO learners apply to their group and personal projects. Some of the workshops have included building skateboards, video transition tricks, studio lighting design and building Rube Goldberg chain reaction machines, providing learners with new learning experiences.
