Dear Families,

As announced by the Ministry of Education on 19 May, the date for Thai schools to officially begin their new academic year has been moved to Monday, 14 June. However, schools in the government’s designated dark red zones, which includes Samut Prakarn, where VERSO is located, remain restricted to online learning. This means that unless the situation changes, VERSO will be unable to bring students back onto campus before Friday, 18 June, the last day of our school year. Therefore, we must assume that remote learning will need to continue until the end of this school year.

We are, of course, saddened to think that we will not have the opportunity to see students and parents on campus until the new school year begins again in August. Indeed we have already received certification from the Ministry of Public Health that our campus is fully prepared and in compliance with all the requirements needed to open for students. However, as I’m sure you will appreciate, there is very little we can do now except hope that the situation improves dramatically and restrictions are lifted.

In the meantime, please be assured that we will continue to support our learners through our remote learning programs. We are currently preparing our end-of-year reports and setting up scheduled times for parents to connect with our learning designers before the semester ends. Further information on end-of-year arrangements including staffing announcements for next year as well as how to collect our first ever yearbook, will be coming to you soon.

As always, please continue to follow all the guidelines, keep positive, and stay safe.

    Kindest regards,

    Cameron Fox
