Welcome to the Lower Loop Latest!
Dear Lower Loop Families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Wai Kru yesterday! It was truly heartwarming to see the Lower Loop learners take the stage and perform with such confidence and joy. A special shout-out goes to Kru Nungning and Kru Joe for their dedication and hard work in preparing our dancers and musicians—they shined!
This week has been packed with exciting activities and opportunities for our learners to engage and grow. We have been lucky enough to have many of you with us at school twice this week. Our Early Years parents were invited to observe a model swimming class, where they saw firsthand the progress their children are making in the water. We also had the HoS Coffee Morning. Thank you for making time to come in and connect with us, it is appreciated.
On Tuesday our EY2-3 learners embarked on an exciting Tuk Tuk adventure, exploring the local community while playing games and enjoying a picnic—a perfect combination of fun and learning! Upon their return I asked a learner if he had fun, and he replied 'We went so far!', it is so refreshing to view the world through the eyes of our littlest learners. Each of them had so much fun. See more below.
Looking ahead, be sure to keep an eye out for the next edition of our Lower Loop Latest. We'll have stories from EY4-5, where learners get up close and personal with a Ball Python as part of their animal studies. C1-2 are heading out on a trip to the Safari Gardens to explore the wonders of playground design and learn how different structures come to life. Meanwhile, C3-4 will dive into teamwork and problem-solving at the escape rooms, followed by a collaborative robotics session right here at VERSO, using VEX robotics to build and create together.
It’s been a vibrant and energizing week, and we look forward to even more enriching experiences ahead!
We hope to see you all at our Whole School Sports Day next week on Wednesday 25 September! It's going to be a fantastic day filled with fun, teamwork, and school spirit, so be sure to mark your calendars and join us for an action-packed event!
With thanks for your support,
Cushla and the Lower Loop Team
EY2-3 Tuk Tuk tour and a picnic in 'VERSO Town'
In EY 2-3, the learners are getting to know their surroundings to see how they fit into the greater VERSO community this quarter. They have been looking at the school on a map and walked over to the Hub in preparation for their Tuk Tuk adventure!
On Tuesday, the learners boarded the Tuk Tuks, strapped themselves in, and explored the far away areas of the school. First, they stopped at the Wetlands, enjoying the view of the lotus pond while sitting under tents and eating snacks. There was also a water pump there which will be added to the school map!
Next, they toured around the track and stopped to have a practice run for VERSOlympics, the schoolwide Sports Day, getting to know the area and participating in some very fun games! They then continued around the outside of the school, stopping by the Arena where a few learners have gymnastics.
The electric Tuk Tuks were so quiet, allowing the learners to tune into the different sounds in the environment - birds chirping, planes flying overhead, and the woosh of water as they drove through puddles! It was such a great experience with perfect weather for the explorations.
Creativity in Motion: Lower Loop Learners Shine in Performing Arts!
The Performing Arts department has kicked off the year with an exciting mix of creative activities across the Lower Loop! Our Early Years learners are getting into character by exploring animal movements and acting, plus experimenting with AI music production. C1 has turned their space into a singing lab, while C2 is all about expressing themselves in the “All About Me!” lab. The C3 learners are mastering their beats in the “Rhythm Masters” lab, and C4 is diving into the world of Mime!
Our learners have been buzzing with energy as they explore and express their identities through Performing Arts. Creativity is front and center in our Performing Arts curriculum, offering fun, enriching experiences that spark self-expression and artistic growth.
Dive In: Keep Hair Dry with a Waterproof Swim Cap!
To help keep swim sessions enjoyable and efficient, we kindly ask that parents send a waterproof swimming cap to school with their child, especially for those with long hair. Wearing a cap not only helps keep hair dry but also reduces tangling and keeps the pool clean. It’s a simple way to ensure that your child can focus on swimming and having fun!
A reminder to parents that swimming classes are part of your child's regular timetabled week at VERSO. If your child is unable to swim, we ask that you submit a medical certificate to the school nurse nurse@verso.ac.th.The nurse will then inform your child’s Learning Designer of the period your child should be out of the pool during these classes; otherwise your child is required to take part in all swimming classes.
Talad VERSO Fundraiser
Q: What is Talad VERSO Fundraiser?
A: It's a bake sale event and one of the many activities taking place during Spirit Week (23-27 Sept). Funds raised will go towards the Design Challenge for ML and UL learners to design and create a Vipers mascot.
Parents and staff are invited to bring NUT-FREE baked goods - cookies, cupcakes, donuts, pies, brownies, muffins, and more! (preferably no live cooking) to sell at The Hub from 2:45 PM - 3:15 PM on 26 September. Both homemade and purchased items are welcomed. We ask that parents and staff or their designated representatives manage their own sale and use eco-friendly serving or packaging materials in lieu of plastics.
Q: What is the Design Challenge for the Vipers Mascot?
A: The Design Challenge for the Vipers Mascot kicks off on 23 September. The Vipers mascot will appear at various sporting events and activities. The Middle and Upper Loop learners will tackle the driving question: "How might we design a real-life mascot for our VERSO Vipers teams?" They'll use the Design Thinking Process to sketch ideas, develop designs, and consider how the mascot should make people feel. Initial designs will be submitted to their Learning Designers on 27 September for their consideration. The winning team will then create prototypes and bring their design to life, guided by Learning Designers.
