HoS Highlights: Fall Break Update 11 October 2024
I hope this email finds you well as we enter our Fall Break. Please note that there will be no school from 14 to 23 October inclusive. School reopens on Thursday, 24 October. I hope that all of you have a restful and enjoyable vacation.
Our first VERSOlympics was met with great enthusiasm It was wonderful to see the entire school community out in the stadium participating in the events. The team colors and house shirts certainly were a hit! Congratulations to the purple Wayu team who ended up with the most points for the day. A huge thank you to Ms. Shanna and the organizing committee for all their efforts. This is a great event to add to our VERSO traditions!
event.
Our first Open House was a huge success. We had a great turnout and a number of families who were interested in VERSO. A huge congratulations to Langa and the Marketing, Admissions, and Communications (MAC) teams on their efforts. I would like to wholeheartedly thank them for all they have done over the years for VERSO and continue to do this year.
Thanks to those who helped out on tours, especially our VERSO learners who presented and answered many questions and to our VERSOnians who were in attendance to answer questions from families. The next Open House will be held on 3 December.
We held our safety bus training yesterday at VERSO. Thank you to the Operations and Purchasing teams for working so swiftly to make this happen. The training was led by our Security and Safety Manager Khun Narong Chaiyarugs in collaboration with staff from our transport partner Dash MV Co., Ltd. During the session, participants learned bus safety protocols, including the identification and proper use of emergency exits, familiarization with various safety equipment, and hands-on practice of evacuation procedures. This training is designed to equip our school community with practical knowledge and skills for emergency response, ensuring confidence in handling urgent situations both on and off school grounds.
Once we return from the October Break, there will be several learning opportunities for VERSO that we want to share. On 22 October, Dr. David Willows will be here from Yellow Car. He will be working with our Marketing and Admissions teams, as well as Operations team members and guests from other schools.
From 23-26 October, members of our Leadership Team will be off to the EARCOS Leadership Conference being held here in Bangkok. From October 28-30, Dr. Derrick Gay will be hosting his Executive Leadership Cohort at VERSO. We will welcome leaders from the region to our campus. Dr. Gay will be speaking with our staff on 30 October. From 1-3 November, we will be hosting the Artificial Intelligence and the Future or Education conference at VERSO. Our Leadership Team and LDT will have the opportunity to participate in this groundbreaking event.
I would also like to share with you that some of our Leadership Team members will be moving on at the end of this academic year. Mr. Jarret, Mr. Chad, and Mr. Garrett have decided to move on from VERSO at the end of this school year. They have all been instrumental in the growth of the programs at VERSO, but more importantly, they have been instrumental in the development and growth of our learners. Search committees have already been formed to find suitable replacements and there will be plenty of time for transition planning. I would like to wholeheartedly thank them for all they have done over the years for VERSO.
Have a restful break and see you all back on 24 October.
Best regards,
Dr. Ryan Persaud
Head of School
