Learning Labs for Q1

Robo Jobo

  • As our final sprint comes to a close, learners are completing their documentation in their engineering notebooks about the results of their final sprint
  • During Exit Interviews, learners had a chance to reflect on their experience using Agile methodology to iterate through the Design Cycle repeatedly during our lab
  • Come watch the final match against our two teams LIVE during ShowTime on 15 November!
  • This isn’t the end of VEX! Matt & Michael plan to continue to support interested learners in competing in this year’s robotics competition against other schools across the region. A survey will be sent to learners given them the dates of the events to determine interest and commitment to forming teams beyond our Learning Lab.

Project Finale!

Diligent Preparation for Final Pitch and Event Execution

  • LeLab PoP learners dedicated significant time and effort to prepare for the final pitch for the upcoming International Women’s Day event, working meticulously on both planning and execution aspects to ensure a strong presentation.

Networking and Collaboration with Peers

  • To strengthen their ideas and refine the event, teams reached out to key individuals, including Khun Tinny, Khun Langa, Khun Sack, and other senior faculty members and departments from VERSO.
  • They also collaborated with visiting students from Swiss Cottage School, which provided valuable opportunities for networking and peer feedback. This collaboration allowed them to exchange ideas and gain new perspectives on event planning.

Preparation and Presentation of the Final Pitch

  • After thorough preparation, the learners presented their final pitch to the Senior Leadership Team. Their presentation detailed each component of the event, covering goals, programming, and anticipated impact, demonstrating their commitment to delivering a meaningful event.
  • Post-presentation, they received insights from the leadership team, which guided further adjustments to fine-tune the event in alignment with the leadership’s vision and recommendations.

Final Refinements and Event Execution Planning

  • Incorporating feedback from both VERSO leadership and their collaborative network, learners made key refinements to enhance the inclusivity, structure, and logistics of the event, ensuring a cohesive and impactful experience for all participants.

We are excited to finalize and execute the International Women's Day event next year. Our event will feature an impactful panel discussion with 8 guest speakers from various fields and a fabulous art exhibition, centered around our mission:

“To end the objectification of women by promoting real beauty, rejecting ageism, and empowering women beyond sexualization and cosmetic ideals.”

UWell with Greg

  • The UWELL course will have an extended session next week where we will learn about dating coercion and sextortion, crimes that are on the rise as young people navigate relationships, social media, and interactions online. Giving them tools to resist pressure will build their resilience and help keep them safe.
  • We had a university visit from SUIC Silpakorn University International College after the holiday break where they shared their joint programs with European Universities in hospitality, business, and digital communications.
  • Learners looking to have roots in Europe and Thailand, dual degree programs like these allow them to explore their interests and start work in multiple continents post-graduation.

Art Labs with Gideon and Ji Yoon

MADLab

  • The learners are putting the finishing touches on their final pastel masterpieces, which will be showcased at next week's exhibition.
  • Join us in celebrating their creativity, artistry, and hard work as we honor their achievements during the first quarter.

AP Studio (G11-12)

  • AP Art learners explored hyper-realism through large-scale oil paintings and realistic casting sculptures, enhancing their mastery of technical skills.
  • 3D and Drawing classes will soon diverge temporarily to focus on subject-specific AP skills.
  • Upcoming sustained investigations will concentrate on perspective and techniques for creating an illusion of depth, expanding on previous value studies.
  • Learners will be introduced to a new design process where they create and then modify an artwork to align with their specific inquiry.
  • This approach will encourage experimentation with diverse design thinking and creative processes, fostering adaptability and innovative problem-solving.
