Today we celebrated our very first Wai Kru Day or Teacher Appreciation Day, an important celebration in the Thai culture where students show respect and gratitude to their teachers for the knowledge they have given them and for the gift of learning.
With the recent return of students on campus, today marks the perfect opportunity to celebrate this traditional Thai custom that is usually held on a Thursday as it is considered an auspicious day of the week dedicated to teachers.
During this morning's ceremony at VERSO, our learners presented flowers on a "phan" tray to their teachers, recited a traditional Thai poem dedicated to teachers, and gave them handmade cards with appreciation messages.
