Ensuring Safety and Security During Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs)

We extend our heartfelt thanks for your incredible support and enthusiasm for our Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) for Quarter 3. Your involvement is truly appreciated as we strive to provide enriching experiences for our learners at the end of the timetabled day.

Ensuring the safety and security of all our learners during ECA pick-up times is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, we kindly request that parents refrain from attending the activity with their child or waiting outside the activity doors to see or collect them. We would like to once again remind parents that the learners should not be eating snacks during ECAs. Please support us by keeping any snacks that you have for your child and giving it to them when the activity has finished.

If you plan to wait on our campus for your child, who will finish their activity at 4:00pm, we offer two designated waiting areas for your convenience: pH7 and the Lower Loop Entrance Foyer.

To ensure your child's safe return after their activity, our ECA instructors will accompany the learners back to the seating area outside the @Hello office at The HUB.

Your continued support brightens our school community, and we're excited about the wonderful activities and learning experiences ahead. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

EY 4-5 Exploring Marine Marvels: A Dive into Sea Life

In their latest adventure as part of the People & Nature unit, our EY 4-5 learners embarked on a thrilling journey to Sea Life. This Beyond the Walls trip offered an immersive exploration of aquatic habitats and the incredible creatures that inhabit them.

Discovering Underwater Wonders

From the moment the class stepped foot into Sea Life, our young explorers were captivated by the diverse array of marine life. With wide-eyed wonder, they encountered fascinating fish species, graceful sharks, gliding stingrays, and playful otters. Each encounter sparked curiosity and excitement, igniting a passion for the natural world.

Unveiling the Secrets of the Sea

Delving deeper into Sea Life, our learners had the opportunity to explore a variety of aquatic habitats. From bustling coral reefs to serene kelp forests, each ecosystem unveiled its unique beauty and complexity. Through observation and hands-on exploration, the children gained invaluable insights into the delicate balance that sustains marine life.

Hands-On Learning Adventures

One of the highlights of the trip was the hands-on learning experiences provided. Through interactive activities, the children eagerly identified different components of marine ecosystems and learned about the intricate relationships between organisms and their environment. These engaging experiences fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation for the wonders of the ocean.

Championing Conservation

The time at Sea Life also served as a powerful lesson in conservation. Through thought-provoking discussions and informative presentations, the children learned about the importance of protecting marine environments and the threats facing ocean life. They left with a newfound sense of responsibility and a commitment to becoming stewards of our oceans.

A Call to Action

As the class reflects on their journey to Sea Life, they are reminded of the importance of nurturing the children's curiosity and passion for the natural world. Together, let us all inspire a generation of environmental champions who will work tirelessly to protect our oceans and the incredible creatures that call them home!

C3-4 Inside the Walls Sleepover

Throughout Learning Lab 3, the C3-4 learners have focused on the four elements of health (physical and personal health, food and nutrition, mental health, and self management). Learners prepared for a week leading up to the Great C3-4 Sleepover!

Learners applied their math and health knowledge to compare prices at popular grocery stores to a local market. They started their sleepover day by shopping for recipe ingredients at King Kaew Market. Later that afternoon they participated in physical activities and prepared and cooked their recipes, enjoying them shortly after!

In the evening they enjoyed a dance party to get even more physically active. Using mindfulness strategies learned throughout the unit, they settled themselves into a calm state before snuggling up for a story and bed!

The next morning a dedicated group of parents prepared a healthy and delicious breakfast that the entire C3-4 community shared.

C1-2 Exploring Creative Expression: A Day at Bangkok University Performing Arts Theater

Our C1-2 learners had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of performing arts at Bangkok University Performing Arts Theater. With the invaluable support of parent connections and Bangkok University, our learners embarked on a memorable journey on 12 March, delving into the realms of drama, dance, and music.

An Immersive Journey

Learners were introduced to the complexity of theater production, learning about the diverse roles required, from script writers and actors to directors, sound engineers, and lighting engineers, highlighting the collaborative effort needed.

The C1-2 learners had the opportunity to explore backstage, delving into the costume and makeup rooms, where they observed other students actively engaged in their crafts. Following their immersive experience backstage, the group proceeded to visit several rehearsal rooms, where they had the chance to witness actors in the midst of rehearsing, providing a real-world glimpse into the preparation for live performances.

This hands-on exploration not only enriched the learners' understanding of theatrical productions but also ignited a newfound appreciation for the artistry and teamwork involved in bringing a story to life on stage.

Supporting Learning Lab Discussions

This excursion served as a perfect complement to the C3-4's recent discussions in the Learning Lab. Throughout the sessions, they've been exploring the connection between emotions and artistic expression. Through drama, dance, and music, our learners have been actively engaged in noticing and understanding human emotions and the power of creative storytelling.

Fostering Creativity and Confidence

Participating in such hands-on experiences has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on our learners. This experience has not only broadened their horizons but has also given them a deep appreciation for the arts.

A Note of Gratitude

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Bangkok University for graciously hosting our learners and for their unwavering support in fostering a love for the arts. This collaboration underscores the importance of community partnerships in enriching our learners' educational journey and providing them with opportunities for growth Beyond the Walls.

World Finals - Kids' Literature Quiz

The annual Kids' Lit Quiz, a literature knowledge competition for students aged 10-13, spans various countries including Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, and the USA. Teams of four students, each tasked with answering 100 questions on children's literature across ten categories, compete in local heats, with the winning team progressing to the National Final. The journey continues for national champions who then vie for victory in the World Final.

On Friday, 8 March, VERSO proudly dispatched a team of 4 learners; Yipta (G6), DJ and Nadine (G5), along with Kacy (G4), to participate in the Thailand Heat at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Riverside. Amidst stiff competition from 40 teams across Thailand, our learners showcased their literary prowess, securing a coveted spot among the top 6 teams advancing to the National Final.

The National Final proved to be an intense battle, with VERSO and Harrow locked in a tiebreaker. Undeterred, our team emerged triumphant 2nd place (tiebreaker), earning an invitation to represent Thailand in the prestigious Kids' Lit Quiz World Final set to take place in Canberra, Australia, this summer. This remarkable achievement not only highlights the literary knowledge of our learners but also brings honor to VERSO on the global stage. Stay tuned for updates on their journey to the pinnacle of children's literature knowledge!
