Greetings Lower Loop Families,
Happy Friday. We hope each of you has had a great week.
Get ready to receive an overview of all the experiences that your child has been a part of in Quarter 2 – on Friday, 2 February! You'll be getting your child's VERSO 360 Progress Report for Quarter 2. Keep an eye on your VERSO email because that's where it's headed!
Now, here's the fun part: reading the progress report together with your child. It's like a teamwork thing! You and your child can chat about how things are going in school, what they're awesome at, and maybe where they could use a little boost. It's not at all about grades – it's more like a shared experience that helps you understand everything that your child has been immersed in this last quarter.
When you and your child talk about the report, you'll learn more about their adventures in learning and find out what they're really good at. Plus, you'll get the inside scoop on what areas they might want to work on or even something that they would like to learn more about in their own time.
When you share the VERSO 360 Progress Report together, your child gets to be the star of the show too! They can share their thoughts, talk about what's tricky for them, and dream big about what they want to achieve. It's like they're given the opportunity to show you how they are learning to be the boss of their own learning journey!
As always, please reach out to your child's Learning Designers if you have any questions regarding your child's VERSO 360 for Quarter 2.
Lunar New Year
We are so excited to share the Lunar New Year with our Lower Loop families on Friday, February 9th. We will be celebrating Lunar New Year at VERSO. This festive day will be filled with a variety of engaging activities for both the whole school and the Lower Loop.
We invite all learners and family members to join us in the celebration by dressing in red on this special occasion.
In the morning, we have planned some Lower Loop activities. One of these plans is to have all the learners involved in making dumplings together. But why dumplings? Dumplings are eaten during Lunar New Year because the dumplings themselves look like money pouches and are said to represent fortune and prosperity in the coming year.
We warmly welcome all families to join us from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Lower Loop to roll up your sleeves and get cooking together. Following this, we would like to invite all families to join us for a potluck lunch (we ask every family to bring a small dish to share). Our shared lunch will take place from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM.
Please could you fill out the Google Form to help us know if you are joining as well as if you would be interested in helping? It will assist us greatly in knowing how many tables to set up for our lunch together. Thank you to those of you who have already filled out the form.
We are seeking support from around 19 volunteers during two-time slots: from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM and then from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Your involvement will undoubtedly enhance the experience for everyone involved. Let's come together as a community to make this Lunar New Year celebration a memorable and joyful occasion for our children!
Following this special Lower Loop experience, we will come together as a whole school. Our whole school Lunar New Year event is scheduled to take place in the arena from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Early Years parents will have the option to take their child home after our lunch together; however, if you are able to, everyone is warmly invited to the afternoon celebrations as well.
We appreciate your support and look forward to creating wonderful memories together.
Please note: If you are planning to bring additional family members to our Lunar New Year celebration, please save yourself some time and fill out the VERSO Visitor Form before arriving at school.
Quarter 2 ShowTime for C1-2 and C34
In Cohort 3-4, our learners have been honing their research skills to delve into the intricacies of global issues. They've explored how living things influence these issues and, in turn, how these issues impact living things. Beyond simply gathering information, our students have embraced technology to visually present their findings and have diligently organized their thoughts through writing. The C3-4 Showtime served as a platform for our learners to come together in teams, collaboratively sharing their insights. This event provided a unique opportunity for them to not only showcase their collective knowledge but also to engage with you, their grown-ups, sharing the stories within their magnificent, gigantic nonfiction books. Thank you C3-4 families for being a part of this enriching experience and for supporting our learners on their educational journey. |
