Songkran Celebrations Next Week

A reminder that we need your support by communicating with us about your plans for the whole school Songkran event.

We need each family to fill out this form by the end of the day TODAY.

We will conduct an early dismissal between 12-12:15pm for families who would like to attend the event together. EY2-3 students will not attend the event as a class. If you are an EY2-3 parent and want to join the whole school celebration, we ask that you accompany your child by picking them up at the Lower Loop first.

If you have more than one child, please include details on this form. Only fill this form out once.

What's Happening in Performing Arts

Written by Mr. Graham

Our EY4-5 students have been getting creative and having fun whilst developing preferences in Performing Arts. Learners have developed fundamental skills in dance, drama, and music and had plenty of opportunities to develop their identities. In C1-2, students have been bringing imaginary characters to life, creating brand new characters using Ai, and changing their voices to tell imaginative stories. In C3-4, students have continued to learn important skills as well as experiencing an increased amount of choice and freedom, through our unique Performing Arts Projects. These projects range from drumming to DJ’ing, from singing to dance, music production to piano, and so on, depending on what each student feels connected to. Performing Arts has never been so much fun!

What's Happening in Well-Being Classes?

Written by Garrett Cutler

EY 2-3 learners have been practicing hopscotch and the bear crawl! We have been learning how to hop on one foot, two feet, and back and forth between the two. We have also been working on how to crawl with only our hands and feet touching the ground. It has been fun trying to put these to use in both our soft movement space and in the Go Zone with our PMP equipment.  We have also been experimenting with different types of breathing before we come into the Go Zone and building structures with our soft blocks!

The EY 4-5 have been improving in all areas of our motor development during our station, gameplay, and soft movement space days. Our stations have been utilizing our scooters in combination with carrying and placing certain objects, balancing, climbing over, and crawling under objects in our soft movement space, using hands and feet during target work (such as bowling and football), and more!  Also, EY 4/5 is the first cohort to earn their second bonus!  Each cohort can earn a point at the end of class that goes towards a bonus... the EY 4/5 have a BTW trip and a well-being carnival in the works.

Cohorts 1-2 and 3-4 have been working on our game creation project. Each cohort has used the "jigsaw method" to develop games they create from one of our favorites. Learners must exercise critical life skills such as group work, active listening, communicating information to others, and thinking creatively to produce a game. Each cohort has prototyped and tested different versions of each group's games, changed them how they see fit, and worked collaboratively as a cohort to come up with a "final" version that they can coin as their own. Cohort 1-2 and 3-4 will have finalized their own game to share with others.

Reusable and Recyclable Materials for EY4-5

EY4-5  would love more materials to use to create! They will use these materials to improve our garden by making plant pots and working on a self-watering system using plastic bottles. The learners will also create an under-the-sea-themed piece of art with bottle caps.

Please drop off plastic bags, bottles, boxes, and bottle caps in the Lower Loop Foyer.
